GEDA on Air and at the Science Week 2019 !

A. Sanz-Aguilar a Balear Fa Ciencia (min 26) explained the Speed Dating with Researchers and introduced the Storm Petrel, the smallest seabird. The GEDA will be at the Science Speed Dating this Monday (more information here).

Urban Ecology on the air, each saturday at BFC

Each Saturday morning at "Balear Fa Ciencia", Alvaro Luna will share his experience on the study the ecology of those animals that live in the urban enviornment. Here his last interview of Saturday 20th of July 2019 (at 32'45'') about the decrease of once common species.

Álvaro Luna at "Balears Fa Ciència" (here, min 27) speaking on Urban Ecology and Urban Evolution. Álvaro is finishing his PhD at the University of Sevilla, co-supervised by M. Carrete from the University of Sevilla and A. Sanz-Aguilar from the GEDA (IMEDEA -CSIC/UIB). 
His research is focussing on the adaptation and the ecology of urban fauna. Here is a previous post on Alvaro's book, with an interview by E. Soto.

Storm Petrel on the local news!

GEDA at "Meteo y Natura"

Ana Sanz-Aguilar explains the results from a meta-analysis investigating whether seabirds adapt their breeding phenology to the recent warming of the sea temperature. The study used the long-term data of nearly 200 seabird populations. Among them those studied by the GEDA. The full interview can be viewed here (at min 4:30)

APHIS under the spotlight !

The software APHIS for individual photo-identification developed by the GEDA in collaboration with Dr. Ó. Moya (Fundacion IBIT) was on IB3 news today! 
APHIS builds on an existing approach (I3S) adding the possibility to process photos in batches and the original ITM procedure which minimizes pre-processing time.
